Professional Drawing and Painting Art Course with Katarzyna Hasnik
A 5-week course for Beginners and Improvers (Adults and Older Youth)
Course Details:
1. Dates:
Sunday, February 18th from 1 pm - 3 pm
Sunday, February 25th from 12 noon - 2 pm
Sunday, March 3rd from 12 noon - 2 pm
Sunday, March 10th from 8 am - 10 am
Sunday, April 7th from 12 noon - 2 pm
*Studio is pre-booked for the above dates and times. If anything will change, Fine Arts students will be informed in advance. Also, if students agree, dates can be adapted depending on the studio's availability. Accommodating student's needs is priority number one. If for any emergency reason class cannot be taken, the teacher can arrange a consultation.
2. Booking:

3. Time:
- 2 hours class (including a short break for a cup of tea/coffee included).
- Possible outdoor class in the planer or chosen location (e.g. museum, nature, downtown, village, open space) when weather permits and the group agrees to it.
- Final exhibition (optional) and the possibility to show and sell artworks in Community Well Donabate during the announced public art event.
- The costs of the fine arts exhibition are included in the course fee.
4. Course Fee:
- €349 including:
- Guided Fine Arts Class.
- Fine Arts props, studio facilities.
- Coffee and tea.
- Teaching and art materials (e.g. pastels, charcoal, pencils, coloured pencils, various paints, sketch paper brushes etc.) for the duration of each class.
- Each student is required to have a basic set of hard and soft pencils, a rubber, a sharper, ruler, a sketch notebook A3, A4 or smaller), a set of brushes, and a chosen paint: watercolour, gouache, acrylic or oil (+ white spirits), canvas, or board (preferable size) or watercolour paper etc., cloth, paint palette to bring to the class and practice at home when possible.
- The fee is not refundable as it requires investment in art materials, prebooking of space at the studio teaching materials etc.
5. What you will learn during the art course?
Subjects:
I. Fundamental Course Content:
- Foundation of doodling, sketching, drawing and painting.
- Colour theory and usage of various mediums and texture techniques.
- Importance of perspective, optical and geometrical proportions, etc.
- Importance of hand motor skills and hand-pencil-brush movements.
- Realistic and abstract artwork creation (art eras, schools, styles, favourite artists).
- Exploration of personal artistic preferences (topics: portrait, landscape, still life etc.
- Mix media, collage, manual and digital art, final theme projects and more.
- Discussion, Q&A, and valuable constructive and encouraging feedback.
II. Unleashing creativity, handling feedback, and building an art portfolio.
- Course Expand to the area of "Becoming Truly Artist - Be Noticed as Artist" which includes a selection of the below subject depending on the student's level and group needs.
A. Discover Your Unique Creativity and Artistic Talent:
- Unleash the Artist within you - what was once forgotten, now it is awakened.
- Understanding the difference between Inspiration vs. imitation, the importance of copyrights etc.
- Recognizing and developing individual potential.
- Constructive and engaging feedback, the value of self-awareness and healthy self-criticism, self-esteem, and confidence.
B. Become part of the World of Art:
- Understanding fundamental art principles, values, mission, and goals.
- Exploring various art styles and schools, diving into the history of art.
- Balancing art as an additional possible profession with the present work lifestyle.
- Building an online social media presence and selling artwork.
- Digital preparation of manual art including knowledge of printing, pre-press production, and DTP.
C. Be More Productive and Proactive at Home:
- Weekly homework assignments (optional depending on the individual student's abilities, schedule, and work-family-life commitments).
- Individual consultations during class to increase the ability to become proactive and productive at home.
- Motivation tips, establishing new healthy habits, and bringing art into regular life.
- The importance of the regular practice of the art hobby as a true calling.
