Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course

Being mindful means being fully present in the here and now. It is the practise of slowing down and paying attention - so that we don’t miss the precious moments in our lives and can equally learn to deal more effectively with those times that may be stressful.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight week programme created and pioneered in the USA by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn. Studies have shown that committed participation in an MBSR course can often lead to lasting positive effects on health and well-being. This 8-week course will introduce participants to different forms of mindful practise, including sitting meditation, body awareness and gentle mindful movement. As the emphasis is on bringing mindfulness into everyday life, home practice will be an important part of the course.

Start Date: Monday 22nd January for 8 weeks plus a full day of mindful practice 

Time: 8pm-10pm

Venue: Community Well Donabate

Price: €250 includes all course notes and two practice CDs 

Concessionary places available for unwaged/low income

It gives you the grounding you need to best prepare you for birth. As we move into the cold, dark days of winter our energy and our mood can shift.  The Christmas season quickly draws in and our weekends become filled with shopping centres and gift wrapping. This November take the opportunity to step out of the hustle and bustle of the world and join me in a Saturday morning Vinyasa yoga class that will set you up for whatever the weekend throws at you.

In the six week course we will work through a variety of Sun salutations to warm up the body, bringing in a variety of poses each week. We will open up our bodies through a different theme each week; from shoulders to hips, to our hearts and our hamstrings.  We will also ground our minds though breath work and a relaxation at the end of each class.

This class is suitable for beginners to intermediate students.

Hatha Yoga with Cora in September - Moving into Autumn

Happy September to you all. As the season begins to change, I hope you’re feeling well and managing to find time to focus internally, to slow down, and breathe into changes that may be happening all around… as it always seems to do at this time of the year.

This month, as the darker evenings draw in, we’ll be giving some deeper focus to twists, breath, and backbends – really focusing on lungs, and the digestive system, which can help support and calm the mind when change is taking place. We’ve touched on Camel pose in the past so this month, using our blocks, we’ll take this a little deeper, and also combine with supported Bridge, and an introduction to Cobra.

This Class and Class on Wednesday at 6.45pm is open to all levels and abilities.

Cost is €12 drop-in, alternatively, if purchasing a package of 4+classes, the price reduces to €10 per class. Packages can also be used for both Monday or Wednesday sessions, however, in order to secure a place in either class, pre-booking by text (087 8049818) is required from September onwards.
 
PS: Over the past few weeks the classes have been getting busier after the summer holidays and we reached maximum capacity on Wednesday evening last. From a comfort point of view in relation to space, and for the use of props (blocks, belts, bolsters), I would really appreciate it if you could drop me a text or email if you’re planning to attend class that day. This helps to avoid disappointment as I would hate if anyone made the effort to come along but there just wasn’t enough room to accommodate. Thanks so much for your help with this!

Are you aware that we spend one third of our lives sleeping? 

During the sleep we can not only restore and relax fully but we can influence the course of our dreams, overcoming our fears, weaknesses and limitations if we prepare for it properly.

The moment before going to sleep is very important but unfortunately nowadays we don't put too much attention to preparation for sleep. We fall asleep with laptops, mobiles and TV screens in front of our eyes and because of that we don't really rest our minds and bodies during the night, awakening only to feel more physically tired and mentally overloaded.

Katarzyna will help you to prepare your body for the night rest through active vinyasa yoga class and she will guide you through science of lucid dreaming to help you with falling asleep, dreaming and awakening with awareness.

Finding Your Centre - Yoga & Mandala Drawing Workshop

This 2hour workshop focuses on finding our centre of balance both on the physical level and in our lives. 

First part of workshop covers physical practice and working with different energy centres in our body (chakras) on the physical level. After we explore their meaning and importance we move to the second part which is dedicated to creative work of designing your own mandala. 

What is a mandala?

A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. In fact, "mandala" is a Sanskrit word that means "circle". Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms.

Mandalas can contain both geometric and organic forms. They can also contain recognizable images that carry meaning for the person who is creating it.

In essence, mandalas represent the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality. Designing your own mandalas can be both inspirational and therapeutic.

Cost of the workshop is 20eur and includes all art tools, refreshments and vegan treats:)

Physiotherapy Led Pilates for Pregnancy

6 week course starting on Monday July 10th

Exercise is very important during pregnancy. Pilates is an exercise programme that concentrates on building strong muscles that brace the spine to support the extra weight of the baby. It also provides stability to the joints. Pilates helps strengthen the pelvic floor muscles which provide continuous support to the uterus and helps to reduce weakening and stretching of the pelvic floor during pregnancy. 

Classes are available for mothers-to-be who are in their 2nd trimester and have been given consent by their GP or midwife to attend.  

Pilates for Pregnancy is run by a Chartered Physiotherapist and is a wonderful opportunity to meet other mothers-to-be in a relaxing environment. There will be a small number in each class so everyone will benefit from individual attention.

Cost for the full 6 weeks is €72

During this 4 week course we will explore the meaning of beauty that is outside and inside us. We will be sourcing inspiration from world around us and within us and then expressing it trough painting, drawing and mixed media artwork. Through this creative expression you will learn how to open yourself and receive the gifts that beauty brings. There is no emphasis on technique or skill and no artistic experience is required.

Sound Healing Bath Evening with Gentle Yoga Practice

The sound bath is meditative experience which uses sound waves to help enter the state of deep relaxation. Instruments used on the session are gong, tibetan bowls, chimes, rain stick, rattles, tuning fork and tuning pipes. All instruments are tuned to specific vibration for the purpose of relaxation and healing.
