ARTIST'S BIO few words about Your Art Teacher:
Katarzyna has BH degree in Art and Design (Level 8) and over the years she has been teaching art, drawing, and painting to various age groups. She encourages her students to participate in art projects and she organized art show exhibitions for her youngest and older students. She believes that creativity has various meanings and ways of being explored, expanded and one of many of them is art. She says: "By awakening your own creativity, you touch your soul. Who are you if you do not touch your soul? Just flesh and bones?". She has amazing teaching skills and even those who have certain doubts about their artistic abilities start to believe in themselves as she awakens them to their own creative potential. She is creative graphic designer and artist. She explores various techniques and media from manual to digital. Across years she changed styles by expanding and exploring her view on art and life. Nowadays, she finds herself as an artist in the small illustrations and the canvas paintings size around 5"5 x 5"5 ft (160 cm 160 cm). She also uses Adobe and Corel designers programs, for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchBook. Recently she was exhibited in New York during the Art Show (2018); Art Show in Basel, Switzerland, Film Base and Gallery X in Dublin, Ireland (2017). Her favorite mediums at the moment are oils, acrylic, inks, Gouache, watercolors and artistic watercolor markers. She also loves black and white photography ranging from mystical landscapes in the fog to people resting or working in the daily life situations. She also likes to explore arranged photography, which she uses as a base for her ideas for the paintings from impressionism to the surrealistic abstracts.

Supporting Your Yoga Practice - self-practice drop-in classes

Self practice yoga classes start on Tuesday 8.15pm from 24th of July

If you would like to practise yoga sharing common space, respecting your own pace and choosing sequence that suits your body & mind with a group of like-minded people who are willing to dedicate their time to deepen their yoga practice, then this class is something for you. 

We will practise together but move at our own individual pace, following set sequence of poses or choosing to practice your own way, listening to what your body and mind needs on the day, at the very moment of being on the mat. This practice aims to give you confidence in your own ability to listen to and honour your body, mind and soul.

Your teacher will be there to support you in your practice and assist you if you would like to deepen the practice by learning new pose, breathing technique or meditation.

Class begins with short introduction usually in form of reading from yogic text and is followed by centering, warm up, sequence of poses of your choice, ending with meditative relaxation.

Cost of the class: 10eur (this is drop-in class but as the space is limited it's essential to book your place in advance)

Restore your Posture, Core and Pelvic Floor with specialised exercise classes. Babies are very welcome. Classes provide an opportunity to exercise with mothers who understand well what you are experiencing, in a supportive and positive atmosphere.

Growing, birthing and mothering your baby is a life changing experience and places demands on your body. Pregnancy and Mothering, carrying, lifting and bending all tend to change our posture over time and can lead to aches and pains.

What about your tummy muscles? Many mothers experience a separation of their abdominal muscles which leads to a “mummy tummy.” This is actually made worse by sit-ups, planks and traditional abdominal exercises. I will teach you how to safely
and effectively strengthen your core. Your pelvic floor muscles have come under a lot of strain during pregnancy and birth. I will show you how to strengthen these important muscles which can help prevent bladder and bowel issues as well as pelvic organ prolapse. High impact exercise such as running or jumping, stresses the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles are already weakened following pregnancy and birthing. My classes are specifically designed to strengthen your body from the inside out, with a special focus on pelvic floor and abdominals, to get you ready for a safe return to fitness activities. 

Classes led by Chartered Physiotherapist Louise O’Sullivan who, as well as 22 years of professional experience, is the mother of four young children.

Active Birth Workshop aims at empowering women and their partners to be actively involved during their labour and birth of their baby. It gives you the grounding you need to best prepare you for birth. Your birthing partner will get all the knowledge he needs to actively participate, take care of you and carry support you need during a birth of your child. Physiotherapy Led Pilates for Pregnancy

6 week course starting on Monday July 9th

Every Monday from 8.10pm-9.10pm (except August Bank Holiday Monday)

Exercise is very important during pregnancy. Pilates is an exercise programme that concentrates on building strong muscles that brace the spine to support the extra weight of the baby. It also provides stability to the joints. Pilates helps strengthen the pelvic floor muscles which provide continuous support to the uterus and helps to reduce weakening and stretching of the pelvic floor during pregnancy. 

Classes are available for mothers-to-be who are in their 2nd trimester and have been given consent by their GP or midwife to attend.  

Pilates for Pregnancy is run by a Chartered Physiotherapist and is a wonderful opportunity to meet other mothers-to-be in a relaxing environment. There will be a small number in each class so everyone will benefit from individual attention.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course

8week evening course

Start date: Monday 16th April for 8weeks (except bank holiday Mondays) plus full day of Mindfulness practice

Time: 8pm-10pm

Being mindful means being fully present in the here and now. It is the practise of slowing down and paying attention - so that we don’t miss the precious moments in our lives and can equally learn to deal more effectively with those times that may be stressful.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight week programme created and pioneered in the USA by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn. Studies have shown that committed participation in an MBSR course can often lead to lasting positive effects on health and well-being. This 8-week course will introduce participants to different forms of mindful practise, including sitting meditation, body awareness and gentle mindful movement. As the emphasis is on bringing mindfulness into everyday life, home practice will be an important part of the course.

ARTIST'S BIO few words about Your Art Teacher:
Katarzyna has BH degree in Art and Design (Level 8) and over the years she has been teaching art, drawing, and painting to various age groups. She encourages her students to participate in art projects and she organized art show exhibitions for her youngest and older students. She believes that creativity has various meanings and ways of being explored, expanded and one of many of them is art. She says: "By awakening your own creativity, you touch your soul. Who are you if you do not touch your soul? Just flesh and bones?". She has amazing teaching skills and even those who have certain doubts about their artistic abilities start to believe in themselves as she awakens them to their own creative potential. She is creative graphic designer and artist. She explores various techniques and media from manual to digital. Across years she changed styles by expanding and exploring her view on art and life. Nowadays, she finds herself as an artist in the small illustrations and the canvas paintings size around 5"5 x 5"5 ft (160 cm 160 cm). She also uses Adobe and Corel designers programs, for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchBook. Recently she was exhibited in New York during the Art Show (2018); Art Show in Basel, Switzerland, Film Base and Gallery X in Dublin, Ireland (2017). Her favorite mediums at the moment are oils, acrylic, inks, Gouache, watercolors and artistic watercolor markers. She also loves black and white photography ranging from mystical landscapes in the fog to people resting or working in the daily life situations. She also likes to explore arranged photography, which she uses as a base for her ideas for the paintings from impressionism to the surrealistic abstracts.

Yoga workshop 

Date: 10th of March

Time: 2pm-4.30pm

During this class Cora will be showing how to release tension in neck, shoulders, back, and hips, as a result of excess stress, anxiety, or perhaps a sedentary job. As someone who commutes by car, sits at a desk all day, works on laptop and phone, Cora designed this workshop to focus on exercises and stretches that she has found personally to work for her, and which she includes in her regular practice. The poses aim to release the physical effects of a desk based job that can be carried out easily each day, without always having to find time to roll out the mat. The intention is to demonstrate how you can integrate Yoga into your everyday life, no matter where you are, or how much time you have to practice. Come and have some fun on the mat!

As we move into the cold, dark days of winter our energy and our mood can shift.  The Christmas season quickly draws in and our weekends become filled with shopping centres and gift wrapping. This November take the opportunity to step out of the hustle and bustle of the world and join me in a Saturday morning Vinyasa yoga class that will set you up for whatever the weekend throws at you.

In the six week course we will work through a variety of Sun salutations to warm up the body, bringing in a variety of poses each week. We will open up our bodies through a different theme each week; from shoulders to hips, to our hearts and our hamstrings.  We will also ground our minds though breath work and a relaxation at the end of each class.

This class is suitable for beginners to intermediate students.

Happy September to you all. As the season begins to change, I hope you’re feeling well and managing to find time to focus internally, to slow down, and breathe into changes that may be happening all around… as it always seems to do at this time of the year.

This month, as the darker evenings draw in, we’ll be giving some deeper focus to twists, breath, and backbends – really focusing on lungs, and the digestive system, which can help support and calm the mind when change is taking place. We’ve touched on Camel pose in the past so this month, using our blocks, we’ll take this a little deeper, and also combine with supported Bridge, and an introduction to Cobra.

This Class and Class on Wednesday at 6.45pm is open to all levels and abilities.

Cost is €12 drop-in, alternatively, if purchasing a package of 4+classes, the price reduces to €10 per class. Packages can also be used for both Monday or Wednesday sessions, however, in order to secure a place in either class, pre-booking by text (087 8049818) is required from September onwards.
 
PS: Over the past few weeks the classes have been getting busier after the summer holidays and we reached maximum capacity on Wednesday evening last. From a comfort point of view in relation to space, and for the use of props (blocks, belts, bolsters), I would really appreciate it if you could drop me a text or email if you’re planning to attend class that day. This helps to avoid disappointment as I would hate if anyone made the effort to come along but there just wasn’t enough room to accommodate. Thanks so much for your help with this!

Finding Your Centre - Yoga & Mandala Drawing Workshop

This 2hour workshop focuses on finding our centre of balance both on the physical level and in our lives. 

First part of workshop covers physical practice and working with different energy centres in our body (chakras) on the physical level. After we explore their meaning and importance we move to the second part which is dedicated to creative work of designing your own mandala. 

What is a mandala?

A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. In fact, "mandala" is a Sanskrit word that means "circle". Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms.

Mandalas can contain both geometric and organic forms. They can also contain recognizable images that carry meaning for the person who is creating it.

In essence, mandalas represent the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality. Designing your own mandalas can be both inspirational and therapeutic.

This summer we have 3 weeks of camps to choose from and all camps take place at Community Well Studio, Donabate:

*10-14th July from 9am-2pm (only few spaces left)
*17th-21st July from 9am-2pm
*24th-28th July from 9am-2pm (only few spaces left)

We will spend time doing all the little things that both small and big children love doing:
*Yoga & Mindfulness games
*Wall Art, Painting, Drawing and Modelling
*Preparing together Fresh Juices and Flat Indian Breads (Chapatti)
*Making Relaxing Eye Pillows
*Making Calming Spray and Calming Glitter Jars
*Gardening
*Trip to Malahide/Newbridge Farm with Yoga Treasure Hunt (they will find their own yoga mat in the woods... shhhh don't tell them - it's surprise;)
*Face Painting
*Mandalas Painting
*Imaginative Writing (making your own picture book)
*And loads of Laughter:)

Places are limited to 10 children per camp.

Half Day Mindfulness Workshop to deepen your mindfulness practice.

This half day of reflection, meditation and mindfulness is led by an experienced facilitator, Paddy Gowen trained in mindfulness.  This workshop provides an opportunity to nurture and strengthen the energy of mindfulness and the practice of meditation in the company of others.
